TIREDNESS or FATIGUE
Why we feel persistently tired. A poor night sleep, pregnancy, illness, cold can be the reasons for lacking energy but severe fatigue indicates underlying health problems.
These can be the reasons:
Hypothyroidism:- Extreme tiredness can be associated with other symptoms of an underactive thyroid gland such as hair loss, dry skin, weight gain, constipation and a hoarse voice.
Diabetes:- Fatigue and muscle weakness, excessive thirst, needing to urinate more often than usual. There may also be recurrent infections and slow healing of wounds.
Inflammatory Bowel disease:- Fatigue usually associated with long standing and continuously bloody diarrhea,abdominal pain.fever n weight loss.
Hepatitis:- Fatigue with other symptoms,including jaundice and itchy skin. General unwellness and right sided abdominal discomfort may be there.
Tuberculosis:- Extreme tiredness with chest pain, fever, weight loss or may be coughing up blood.
Malnutrition:- Persistent tiredness and weakness with slow recovery time.
Leukemia:- Tiredness,pale skin, breathlessness, fever, night sweats, swollen lymph nodes in neck and armpits or groin.
Insomnia:- Inadequate sleep due to difficulty in falling asleep or staying asleep for long, enough fatigue, poor concentration and irritability. See a doctor if it persists and affects daily life.
Systemic Lupus erythematosis:- Extreme tiredness with swollen painful joints, skin rashes on wrists, face or hands, Rash may be painful or itchy.
Sickle cell disease:- Tiredness, general weakness,severe crippling pain. During a sickle cell crisis it can affect any body part.
Medication:- Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you think your fatigue may be due to a medication or remedy.
